Eclecta

The frontier, distilled We read the firehose, so you read what matters.
Colophon

Read everything. Keep almost nothing.

There is too much to read, and most of it isn’t worth the time. Eclecta exists to fix the ratio. It watches the places technology, AI, and the sciences actually break first — over a thousand of them, from the labs and the front pages to the long tail of practitioner blogs — and surfaces the handful of things that matter, with a clear account of why.

How it works

Every cycle, Eclecta pulls from its full roll of verified sources: aggregators, research feeds, company and lab blogs, newsletters, and the deep bench of individual engineers who quietly write the best things on the internet. Items are clustered, so a story that surfaces across many independent sources rises; the rest settle. Everything that survives gets scored.

The finalists get read — actually read — by a language model briefed to be a ruthless editor: Sonnet scores relevance, pulls the load-bearing details, and writes the one line that tells you whether to care. Marketing dressed as news, thin rewrites, and benchmark theater get cut. Then Opus writes the editions, under a style guide it doesn’t get to argue with.

The editions run on a fixed clock. A daily brief lands weekday mornings. The weekly digest, the flagship, lands Friday. Behind those sit the monthly review, the quarterly report, and the year — each one a longer lens on the same pipeline.

Principles

  • Primary sources first. The paper, the repo, the filing — not the press release about them. When the original is walled, the best free read is found and linked as backup.
  • Why, not just what. Anyone can list links. Each pick says what it means and who should care.
  • Unbiased by construction. Claims are attributed as claims. Disagreement is shown, not smoothed over.
  • Your data stays yours. No account, no tracking, no inbox. Your reading preferences — theme, type size, density, which sections you want, how much of the machinery to show — live in this browser and nowhere else.
  • No inbox required. Eclecta lives in your feed reader. Subscribe to everything, only the digests, one cadence, or a single section.

Point any RSS reader at the full feed, take the digests alone, or pick a cadence or channel from the feed directory. New picks arrive as they’re curated; the editions, on their clock.
